UT Public Health Fair

This week I represented the Montrose Center at the UT School of Public Health Diversity Fair. The fair, which promoted cultural diversity, had many events going on including cultural performances, country-specific educational tables, and ethnic foods.

Our table was in the middle of the fair, near the entrance to the auditorium where the live performances were taking place, so there was lots of traffic passing by. We had numerous brochures about the center that described the programs we offer, such as the EmBody fitness program as well as fliers for events such as the SPRY Diner days, in which seniors are provided with meals in which they can come together and gain a sense of community. While most other tables had food, our table had MCC coin purses as our give-away.

We only had a few people actually stop at the table, but those who did were very nice and it was nice to talk to them about the Montrose Center and answer their questions. A couple of them were already familiar with the establishment so we got some insight into the role Montrose Center had played in their lives, which was interesting to see. I had a great time at the fair, and I was happy to represent an organization that has helped so many people and will continue to do so in the future.
